The account of Jesus restoring a Demon-Posessed Man in the region of the Garasenes (Mark 5:1-20, Luke 8:26-39) has always stood out to me as an incredible moment. The demonic army, Legion, who had long-posessed this man were in fear of Christ, being that His mission was to free all men from the bondage of sin. They entreated Jesus to let them enter into a nearby herd of swine. Since they couldn't destroy the man's life, they figured they would try and take the livelihood of those who tended the swine. The plunge of two thousand swine into the sea terrified the people of that regioin who begged Jesus to depart from them. In light of the demons seeking to rouse a spirit amongst that people to demand the Word depart from them, the healed man is instructed by Christ to remain in His country and share his testimony. In effect, he becomes a one-man legion for Christ amongst the Gentiles.
