The Nazirite Samson was a bane to the Philistines, but perhaps his most infamous encounter with them was the slaughter of a thousand men with a donkey's jawbone. Scripture says that the Spirit of the Lord came upon him in order to accomplish this feat, and I don't doubt it. I picture Samsonwearily walking away after this massacre, utterly parched, still clutching the donkey's jawbone while the rest of its skull looks on at the carnage that has been wrought. Based on Judges 15:13-17.
